About The Position

This role is for an Early Start Teacher for the Summer 2026 program. The program runs from July 6th to July 30th, with working hours from 7:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., Monday through Thursday. The teacher will be responsible for the academic and social development of students, focusing on reading, writing, and mathematics, while also exploring college and career options. Key duties include tracking student attendance and behavior, supervising students during meal times, and supporting Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).

Requirements

  • Relates well to students, parents, and other teachers/staff members
  • Understands the interests and needs of Springfield Conservatory of the Arts most at-risk students
  • Computer/Internet aptitude
  • Highly qualified with required competency in the content area
  • Appropriate content/ program area educator license and grade level (8-12) licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree with appropriate license

Responsibilities

  • Responsible to the school Program Coordinator and Principal
  • Ensure the academic and social development of students throughout the course of the summer program
  • Help students master the fundamental skills of reading, writing, and mathematics while they explore college and career options
  • Track/monitor student attendance and behavior
  • Supervise students during breakfast and lunch periods
  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor
  • Support the implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) where applicable
