About The Position

The early preschool years are filled with curiosity, discovery, and important developmental milestones. Children are learning to communicate, build friendships, solve problems, express themselves, and become more independent every day. As an Early Preschool Teacher at TRF, you will create a warm, engaging, and supportive classroom where children feel safe to explore, ask questions, and discover the world around them. You will plan meaningful learning experiences, implement our Emergent Curriculum, support children's individual developmental needs, and build strong partnerships with families. This is more than teaching preschool. You are helping children build the confidence, skills, and love of learning that will support them for years to come.

Requirements

  • An Associates of Arts or Science (AA/AS) degree in Early Childhood Education or closely related field and a minimum of 24 ECE units and a Teacher Permit issued from CCTC.
  • Minimum two years’ experience working with Early Preschool Children (ages 2-3 years)
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation.
  • Selecting and using training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new things.
  • Able to resolve conflicts, gentle, loving, kind, creative and resourceful.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people.
  • Excellent problem solving, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Criminal background clearance with (FBI, DOJ, and CAI)
  • Complete a physical examination, T.B. test, proof of immunization for (influenza, TDap, and MMR)
  • Submission of satisfactory proof of your identity and your legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • Mandated Child Abuse Training completed within 14 days of employment

  • BA Degree in Early Childhood Education with a Master Teacher or higher permit preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the Emergent Curriculum and applicable CDSS standards for CSPP classrooms.
  • Prepare daily lesson plans that include indoor and outdoor activities based on children's individual needs, interests, and schedules.
  • Incorporate multicultural materials and activities that encourage children to appreciate different backgrounds and experiences.
  • Organize the classroom into well-defined learning centers that encourage exploration, creativity, and independence.
  • Rotate classroom materials and activities to keep the learning environment fresh, engaging, and developmentally appropriate.
  • Create opportunities for children to develop self-awareness, emotional security, self-expression, and gross and fine motor skills.
  • Maintain a warm, home-like, organized, safe, and sanitary classroom.
  • Incorporate California Department of Education, Desired Results, and ECERS standards into classroom activities and the learning environment.
  • Plan and lead activities that encourage language, early literacy, math, creativity, problem-solving, and social-emotional development.
  • Observe children during classroom activities and document their progress through anecdotal records and developmental checklists.
  • Conduct developmental screenings and make appropriate referrals when needed.
  • Adapt learning experiences to support each child's developmental level, interests, and individual needs.
  • Use positive child guidance strategies to encourage cooperation, independence, and healthy social interactions.
  • Build trusting relationships with children and provide consistent, caring support throughout the day.
  • Incorporate meals, snacks, transitions, and everyday routines as opportunities for learning.
  • Implement family-style dining according to program policies and applicable standards.
  • Maintain active supervision and stay engaged with children throughout the day.
  • Follow required child-to-staff ratios and all licensing, health, safety, and program requirements.
  • Keep classroom materials, equipment, and learning areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.
  • Follow appropriate health, sanitation, and food safety procedures.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records, food reports, in-kind reports, and other required documentation.
  • Report concerns appropriately and follow program procedures for incidents and mandated reporting.
  • Maintain classroom supplies and notify the Program Director when additional materials are needed.
  • Welcome children and families each day and help create a smooth transition between home and the classroom.
  • Build trusting and respectful relationships with parents and caregivers.
  • Maintain ongoing, professional communication about children's activities, progress, and developmental needs.
  • Share learning activities that families can continue at home to reinforce classroom experiences.
  • Encourage family participation in classroom activities, workshops, trainings, and program events.
  • Document parent communication and volunteer activities as required.
  • Work collaboratively with families, coworkers, and program leadership to support each child's success.
