About The Position
The Early Preschool Assistant Teacher fosters a nurturing, safe, and vibrant classroom environment for children ages 2 to 3. Working closely with partner teachers, the assistant teacher helps guide daily activities, encourages creative learning, and supports each child's individual growth through positive verbal engagement and caring supervision. The role also supports children's social and emotional development, communicates with families, and assists with classroom routines and care.
Requirements
- High school diploma and 6 semesters or 9 quarter units of early childhood education, including coursework covering early child development, child, family, and community, and program/curriculum.
- Patience, compassion, and a genuine love for working with young children.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Nice To Haves
- Prior teaching experience with preschool students.
Responsibilities
- Create a nurturing, responsive environment that promotes positive development of social and emotional competencies.
- Communicate daily with parents and guardians while collaborating closely with co-teachers and school staff.
- Maintain a safe, healthy, and clean classroom environment in accordance with safety and licensing guidelines.
- Assist children during meals, snacks, rest periods, and routine personal care, including toileting and diaper changing as needed.
- Perform other related classroom and school support duties as assigned.
