About The Position

The Early Preschool Assistant Teacher fosters a nurturing, safe, and vibrant classroom environment for children ages 2 to 3. Working alongside partner teachers, the assistant teacher helps guide daily activities, encourages creative learning, and supports each child's individual growth through positive verbal engagement and caring supervision. The role also involves supporting children's social and emotional development, communicating with families and school staff, maintaining a clean and safe classroom, and assisting with daily routines and personal care.

Requirements

High school diploma and 6 semester or 9 quarter units in early childhood education, including courses covering early child development, child, family, and community, and program/curriculum.
Patience, compassion, and a genuine love for working with young children.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to perform the essential duties of the position, with reasonable accommodations where applicable.

Nice To Haves

Prior teaching experience with preschool students.

Responsibilities

Create a nurturing, responsive environment that promotes positive development of children's social and emotional competencies.
Communicate daily with parents and guardians while collaborating closely with co-teachers and school staff.
Maintain a safe, healthy, and clean classroom environment in accordance with safety and licensing guidelines.
Assist children during meals, snacks, and rest periods, and with routine personal care, including toileting and diaper changing as needed.
Perform other related classroom and school support duties as assigned.
