This is a full-time, exempt position for an Early Literacy Outreach Librarian who reports to the Youth & Teen Services Supervisor. The role involves providing comprehensive reference services, readers' advisory, and computer assistance to patrons of all ages. A significant part of the job focuses on early literacy outreach within the community, including conducting story times at early childhood organizations and planning and presenting early literacy programs in the Library for children from birth to age 6 and their caregivers/teachers. The librarian will also be responsible for collection development and maintenance, staying current with Library databases and digital services, and learning new technologies. Other duties include mentoring an MLS Librarian Intern, training and overseeing department volunteers, and scheduling department staff. The position requires participation in internal and external committees, enforcing library policies, responding to emergencies, and maintaining effective communication with patrons and colleagues. The librarian is expected to work collaboratively across departments, promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, and adapt to various demands while seeking continuous professional development.
