About The Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) in Nashville, Tennessee, is a leading institution dedicated to advancing health and wellness through patient care, education, and research. VUMC Child Care - Dakota is seeking an Early Learning Teacher to lead a classroom and promote the academic, social-emotional growth and development of children. This role involves developing partnerships with parents/caregivers to encourage their participation in the program. The Associate Early Learning Teacher supports all classrooms, assists with age-appropriate curriculum and activities, and provides a nurturing and stimulating environment. They maintain open communication with parents/caregivers, support nutrition routines, and provide attentive supervision of children.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children ages 6 weeks – 5 Years Old in a professional early childhood setting.

  • Customer Communication (Advanced): Demonstrates the uppermost levels of expertise in written and or oral communications in challenging and complex situations.
  • Training & Development (Novice): Has presented course modules as part of a program.
  • Mentoring & Coaching (Intermediate): Demonstrates good training and mentoring practices on a regular basis.
  • Curriculum Development (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate curriculum development of moderate difficulty.
  • Customer Service (Intermediate): Keeps management informed on all aspects of one or more projects.
  • Curriculum Development (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate curriculum development in practical applications of moderate difficulty.
  • Experience Level: 2 years
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED

Responsibilities

  • Leads age appropriate curriculum and activities to nurture and stimulate all domains of children’s development in their care.

  • Performs on-going developmental evaluations of children as required by DHS and develop lesson plans and follow curriculum implementation that addresses the individual needs of each child.
  • Maintains ongoing, open communication with parents/ caregivers.
  • Plans and implements support for nutrition routines.
  • Provides attentive supervision of children.
