About The Position

We are now hiring for full-time Early Learning Floater Teacher to join our DuPage Early Learning Team! This role is responsible for supporting a team approach to planning and implementing program activities. The Floater Teacher collaborates with Family Support Workers, Teachers, Program Aides, site partners, and site supervisors for the betterment of the classroom and families. They participate in ongoing CLASS implementation and monitoring, guide and facilitate activities of the children, and ensure appropriate child guidance and discipline and proper ratios are maintained at all times. The position also involves using Teaching Strategies Gold for documentation and communication with families, implementing the program’s Planned Language Approach, conducting education home visits, maintaining accurate teacher and child files, ensuring transportation safety procedures are followed, and completing CACFP documents. The Floater Teacher builds positive relationships with parents, volunteers, and other staff, works with site supervisors and family support workers regarding children with disabilities, and conducts or oversees screenings of all children. They ensure the curriculum is used with fidelity, including individualization for all children and accommodations for IEPs and IFSPs. The role provides a supportive, caring, and safe environment for children, utilizing the playground as an extension of the classroom and ensuring active supervision at all times. Home visiting services are provided to maintain services to families when needed. The Floater Teacher also assists in the development of the agency’s annual program self-assessment and participates in program recruitment efforts.

Requirements

  • Associate’s in Early Childhood Education or related field with 21 credit hours in Early Childhood Education.
  • Experience in planning and implementing learning experiences that advance the intellectual and physical development of children, including improving the readiness of children for preschool by developing their literacy awareness and their approaches to learning.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting a team approach to planning and implementing program activities.
  • Collaborating with Family Support Workers, Teacher’s, Program Aide, site partners, and site supervisor for the betterment of the classroom and families.
  • Participating in ongoing CLASS implementation and monitoring.
  • Guiding and facilitating activities of the children and ensuring appropriate child guidance and discipline and proper ratios are maintained at all times.
  • Attending all mandated trainings.
  • Setting and achieving professional development goals.
  • Sharing resources with other staff members as appropriate.
  • Using Teaching Strategies Gold to maintain ongoing, high-quality documentation of school readiness skills.
  • Maintaining Interrater Reliability.
  • Using Teaching Strategies Gold to communication with families through monthly newsletters and family conference forms.
  • Implementing the program’s Planned Language Approach which is specifically designed to support dual language learners and their families.
  • Scheduling and conducting education home visits with teaching staff to discuss individual development and progress, and assist parents in developing educational goals for their child.
  • Maintaining accurate teacher and child files.
  • Ensuring all transportation safety procedures are followed including utilization of the bus attendance log if applicable.
  • Ensuring accurate completion CACFP documents in conjunction with the teaching staff.
  • Building and ensuring positive and on-going relationships with parents, volunteers, and other staff members.
  • Working with site supervisor and family support worker to exchange information pertinent to the identification and services of children with disabilities.
  • Conducting and/or overseeing screening of all children within prescribed time frames using the developmental, social emotional and other prescribed screenings tools.
  • Ensuring the curriculum is used to fidelity and that submission of weekly lesson plans including individualization for all children, including: monitoring and facilitating accommodations listed in IEPs and IFSPs.
  • Providing a supportive, caring and safe environment for children.
  • Using the playground as an extension of the classroom; assuring that the playground is safe.
  • Providing active supervision to ensure the safety of children while in the classroom, during transitions, at time of transportation, and while on the playground.
  • Ensuring that no child shall be left alone or unsupervised.
  • Providing home visiting services to ensure that services to families are maintained in the event that there is a need for home visiting support.
  • Assisting in the development of the agency’s annual program self-assessment.
  • Participating in program recruitment efforts to maintain full enrollment.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
