About The Position

We are now hiring for full-time Early Learning Floater Teacher to join our DuPage Early Learning Team! This role is responsible for supporting a team approach to planning and implementing program activities. The Floater Teacher collaborates with Family Support Workers, Teachers, Program Aides, site partners, and site supervisors for the betterment of the classroom and families. They participate in ongoing CLASS implementation and monitoring, guide and facilitate children's activities, and ensure appropriate child guidance, discipline, and proper ratios are maintained at all times. The position requires attendance at all mandated trainings, setting and achieving professional development goals, and sharing resources with other staff members. Professional development must be tracked in Gateways. The role involves using Teaching Strategies Gold for ongoing, high-quality documentation of school readiness skills and maintaining Interrater Reliability. Communication with families is conducted through monthly newsletters and family conference forms using Teaching Strategies Gold. The Floater Teacher is responsible for implementing the program’s Planned Language Approach, designed to support dual language learners and their families. They schedule and conduct education home visits with teaching staff to discuss individual development and progress and assist parents in developing educational goals for their child. Accurate teacher and child files must be maintained, and all transportation safety procedures, including the utilization of the bus attendance log if applicable, must be followed. The role also ensures accurate completion of CACFP documents in conjunction with teaching staff. Building and maintaining positive, ongoing relationships with parents, volunteers, and other staff members is crucial. The Floater Teacher works with the site supervisor and family support worker to exchange information pertinent to the identification and services of children with disabilities. They conduct and/or oversee screening of all children within prescribed time frames using developmental, social-emotional, and other prescribed screening tools. Ensuring the curriculum is used with fidelity and that weekly lesson plans, including individualization for all children, are submitted is a key responsibility. This includes monitoring and facilitating accommodations listed in IEPs and IFSPs. The position provides a supportive, caring, and safe environment for children, utilizing the playground as an extension of the classroom and assuring its safety. Active supervision is provided to ensure the safety of children in the classroom, during transitions, at the time of transportation, and on the playground, ensuring no child is left alone or unsupervised. Home visiting services are provided to ensure that services to families are maintained in the event of a need for home visiting support. The Floater Teacher assists in the development of the agency’s annual program self-assessment and participates in program recruitment efforts to maintain full enrollment. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate’s in Early Childhood Education or related field with 21 credit hours in Early Childhood Education.
  • Experience in planning and implementing learning experiences that advance the intellectual and physical development of children, including improving the readiness of children for preschool by developing their literacy awareness and their approaches to learning.
