About The Position

The Early Learning Center Assistant Teacher/Floater is responsible for assisting the teaching staff and program directors as needed to provide a consistent smooth flow during the program day as well as planning for future events. Resurrection's purpose since its conception in 1990 is to "build a Christian community where non-religious and nominally religious people are becoming deeply committed Christians." This role contributes to transforming the World by supporting the church's mission.

Requirements

Be free from physical, mental, or emotional conditions that would prevent them from protecting the health, safety, and welfare of children.
Demonstrate emotional maturity, sound judgment, and an understanding of children’s developmental needs.
Be able to perform job duties without impairment due to alcohol, prescription or non-prescription drugs, or other substances.
Comply with all health documentation requirements, including tuberculosis screening if required by role.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience working in a childcare center preferred.
Flexible, dedicated, dependable, and highly motivated personality.

Responsibilities

Attend provided professional development training.
Assist in creating a safe and healthy physical environment for learning using the curriculum room arrangement guidelines.
Assist with inventory, cleaning, and organization of classrooms and resource rooms.
Assist teachers with preparation of classroom materials and as assigned to assist with classroom projects.
Provide breaks to teaching staff as needed during program day.
May substitute in classrooms as needed.
Assist office staff with various tasks.
Help, as needed, with set-up or closing of program each week.
Advocate for the needs and rights of young children, their families, and those who work in early childhood education.
Serve as mediator and role model who guides children’s behavior and teaches them conflict resolution skills.
Other duties as assigned.
Follow Jesus and engage in the “five essential practices” of the Christian life: worship, study, serve, give, and share.
Support the church’s purpose of “building a Christian community where non-religious and nominally religious people become deeply committed Christians.”
Exemplify the church’s values and support its theological direction as a United Methodist Church.
