About The Position

Ascend Rehab Services Inc. is seeking a dedicated, experienced, passionate, and fun-loving Early Interventionist/Infant Development Specialist (IDS) to work with infants and toddlers (ages 0-3) with developmental delays and/or disabilities and their caregivers in the child’s natural environment. The role involves providing home visits in the Tri-Valley area (Dublin, San Ramon, Livermore, Danville, Pleasant Hill, and Walnut Creek) and serving the western and eastern parts of Alameda and Contra Costa counties. Ascend has a diverse, inclusive culture, fostering women's empowerment and driven by its employees. Founded in 2004, Ascend has grown to over 100 staff members and operates job placements in clinic settings, school districts throughout Northern California, early intervention settings, and preschools. This position is ideal for someone passionate about working with young children, knowledgeable about typical and atypical child development, and enjoys collaborating with other disciplines.

Requirements

  • Must have a minimum of one year of experience in early intervention working with special needs children ages 0 to 3.
  • Excellent communication skills (Written & Verbal).
  • Reliable transportation to patients' homes.
  • Must be committed and looking for long-term employment.
  • Bachelor's degree (Required).
  • Experience working with children with developmental disabilities: 2 years (Required).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with children in a home environment is a plus.
  • Master's degree is preferred.
  • Spanish-speaking is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Designing learning environments and activities that promote the infant’s or toddler’s acquisition of skills in a variety of developmental areas, including cognitive processes, communication, motor skills, self-help skills, and social interaction.
  • Curriculum planning, including the planned interaction of personnel, materials, and time and space, is key to achieving the outcomes in the IFSP for infants or toddlers with disabilities.
  • Conducting assessments and writing detailed developmental reports for children on caseload.
  • Providing families with information, skills, and support related to enhancing the skill development of the child and working with the infant or toddler with a disability to enhance the child’s development while coaching the parents who are the experts on their child.
