About The Position

The EHS Infant Toddler Caregiver must integrate comprehensive services including child development, health, social-emotional, mental health, and nutrition to provide a coordinated approach to serving infants and toddlers (aged 6 weeks to 3 years) and their families following the Head Start Performance Standards and the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework. In addition, the IFCG will plan a daily routine, implement a curriculum, and address the individual needs of all students. The ability to prioritize in a classroom environment is important. Experience with Microsoft, Google, and other online platforms is required.

Requirements

  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential for Infants and Toddlers required
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Completion of CPR & First Aid training
  • Experience with Microsoft, Google, and other online platforms is required

Nice To Haves

  • Early childhood coursework or degree preferred
  • At least six months of experience working in child care, daycare, or preschool preferred

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate and communicate with parents, administrators, specialists, and other caregivers to effectively manage the Early Head Start classroom.
  • Must communicate progress and address concerns.
  • Willing to learn and adhere to the Head Start Program Performance Standards, and program procedures and use guidance from Caring for Our Children to maintain the health and safety standards in an infant and toddler classroom.
  • Create a stimulating, caring, safe, and enjoyable learning environment for infants and toddlers which includes providing basic care such as feeding, changing diapers, and maintaining overall cleanliness and hygiene of infants and toddlers.
  • Keeps storage areas tidy and organized.
  • Ensure furniture, floor coverings, toys, and equipment are kept sanitized and properly maintained following safe and hygienic standards.
  • Use developmentally appropriate practices to facilitate activities with individuals and groups using various methods such as stories, games, and activities to promote the cognitive, social-emotional, and physical development of infants and toddlers.
  • Administer, document, and communicate the results of developmental screenings, and ongoing assessments to program staff and parents.
  • Implement a curriculum designed for infants, toddlers, two-year-olds, and early three-year-olds.
  • Must be able to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each child using screening and assessment data and parent goals.
  • Uses software to document child observations, attendance, and other program requirements.
  • Maintains sensitivity to cultural, and socio-economic background, and the unique needs of all families.
  • Establishes a positive relationship with families centered on the needs of each infant and toddler; provides ongoing communication with each family; prepares a Daily Report, and a monthly newsletter, conducts at least two home visits and two conferences annually.
  • Maintains ongoing student records using software.
  • Attends professional development, program meetings, and events.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
