About The Position

This position will implement developmentally appropriate activities for children ages birth to five on an as-needed basis to support staff in their absence. The role requires compliance with policies and regulations from the NC Division of Child Development, Early Head Start, and the childcare center, as well as administrative policies of the UNC Horizons Program and the childcare center. The Early Childhood Development Practitioner will supervise and interact with children to maintain a safe, healthy, and nurturing learning environment. Responsibilities also include contributing to the maintenance of the childcare center’s physical environment by discarding broken or dangerous toys and informing supervisors of any health/safety hazards or items needing replacement. The position involves establishing and maintaining effective communication with parents, offering support, advice, and encouragement regarding their child’s goals, accomplishments, and overall well-being. Communication of questions and concerns regarding Horizons and/or Sunrise Corner with other team members and appropriate supervisors is also expected.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with policies and regulations including meeting all regulations of the NC Division of Child Development, Early Head Start.
  • Comply with the policies and procedures of the childcare center daily.
  • Comply with the administrative policies of the UNC Horizons Program and the childcare center.
  • Provide supervision of and interaction with the children in care.
  • Maintain a safe, healthy and nurturing learning environment.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of the childcare center’s physical environment.
  • Discard any broken or dangerous toys.
  • Inform supervisor of any health/safety hazards of the center’s physical environment or of items that need to be replaced.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with parents.
  • Offer support, advice and encouragement to the parents regarding their child’s goals, accomplishments and overall well-being.
