About The Position

Kokua is seeking passionate individuals to become early childhood substitute teachers for 3-4 year olds in D.C. This role offers the opportunity to make a positive impact in the community, spark a love for learning in students, and help address the teacher shortage crisis. Substitute teachers can work up to 5 days a week with typical hours from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm. The position also provides autonomy in choosing assignments and locations, and offers a chance to add representation in the classroom through unique experiences. Kokua Education, founded by a former teacher, has been connecting individuals to K-12th substitute teaching positions for over 12 years, operating in schools across the country, including D.C. They believe that one role model can change a student's life forever and foster a community that supports its members.

Requirements

Experience working with children 3-4 years old
Confidence to manage a classroom of students
Ability to pass state & federal background check
Completion of required employment history review and SSOA training, in compliance with D.C. law
Strong belief that every child has a unique & powerful gift to share with the world

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required
Preference given to candidates willing to accept morning-of assignments
