About The Position

This position is for an Early Childhood Special Education Preschool Paraprofessional at Ross Elementary. The role is full-time and reports to the Principal. The salary ranges from $15.95 to $18.79 per hour, depending on experience. The primary responsibilities involve assisting lead teachers in instructional activities, creating a positive learning environment, maintaining records, and collaborating with staff and parents.

Requirements

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Pass a background check.
  • Demonstrated ability to accomplish the major duties listed.
  • Positive public relations skills.

  • Experience working with young children in preschool or childcare center preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform school-related duties as assigned by the Preschool Manager and Preschool Lead Teacher.
  • Translate communication between parents/students and the lead teacher.
  • Uphold all processes pertaining to teachers and students as specified in the MOU.
  • Conduct instructional activities assigned by the lead teacher; work with individual students or small groups for the purpose of practicing and/or reinforcing learning concepts and assisting students in reaching their academic goals and preschool standards.
  • Assist in creating a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students within the limits of resources provided by Preschool.
  • Assist in the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects and communicating these objectives to students.
  • Assist in using curriculum and assessment tools adopted by Preschool and employ methods that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities and follow prescribed safety regulations.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, Preschool policies, Kuna Collaborative Processes, and administrative regulations in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with the preschool lead teacher in planning and executing three or more family nights during the school year, or as directed by the Preschool.
  • Assist the lead teacher to establish and maintain open lines of communication and cooperative relations with the administration, students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Participate in professional development as assigned by the Preschool.
  • Work collaboratively with the lead preschool teacher on lessons, classroom management, developmentally appropriate practice, and day-to-day activities.
  • Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Know and follow My Place Preschool policy and chain of command.
  • Deal with students, parents, staff, and others in a positive, encouraging manner.
  • Act ethically and confidentially in all aspects of employment.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
