About The Position

The Peabody Preparatory is seeking an Adjunct Early Childhood Music Teacher to provide group-based music instruction to students (birth to 5 years of age) and their families. The program utilizes a leading-edge, research-based curriculum developed from Dr. Edwin Gordon's Music Learning Theory. Successful candidates will receive training in the curriculum as part of the onboarding process. The role involves teaching classes at The Park School location, with specific class schedules during the summer, fall, and spring semesters. Additional opportunities may be available at other campus locations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in music, music education, and/or early childhood education.
• Documented successful teaching experience.
• Experience and an exceptional manner with children birth to 5 years.
• Excellent musicianship and comfortable in (and/or able to easily learn) melodies in all tonalities and meters.
• Basic skills on keyboard, guitar, or other chordal accompanying instruments.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree or equivalent experience and training.
• Background in early childhood music.

Responsibilities

• Provide group-based music instruction to students (birth to 5 years of age) and families.
• Teach up to 3 classes per campus over the summer (6 weeks), with classes offered on Saturdays and possibly another weekday morning.
• Teach up to 4 classes on Saturday mornings and possible weekday morning classes for the fall and spring semesters (32 weeks).
• Potentially teach at other campus locations depending on availability.
