About The Position

Bach to Bach to Rock Herndon is seeking an Early Childhood Music Educator to teach music to young children ages 1-7. The role involves teaching 4 to 8 classes per week, focusing on programs like Rock n Roll (ages 1-3), Rock City® (ages 3-5), Kids N Keys (ages 5-7), and Fun With Music (ages 6-7). The educator will utilize a provided curriculum and focus on engaging young children through movement, repetition, story, and song. The position offers W-2 employment with competitive pay, 401(k) matching, and flexible scheduling.

Requirements

  • Direct, hands-on experience teaching or leading children ages 1–7 (preschool, daycare, music classes, summer camp, after-school programs, parent-and-child classes, or experience as a parent/caregiver).
  • Functional music skills: ability to play piano OR guitar/ukulele well enough to accompany simple children's songs, and ability to sing in tune with confidence.
  • Comfort with parents present in the room during classes.
  • Patience, warmth, and sustained energy for 45-minute classes.
  • Reliable transportation to the Herndon studio.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Willing to undergo a background check.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.

  • Early Childhood Education degree, CDA, or related credential
  • Music Education degree (B.M.E. or M.M.E.)
  • Kindermusik certified educator
  • Music Together registered teacher
  • Musikgarten certified
  • Orff Schulwerk, Kodály, Dalcroze, or Suzuki training
  • Preschool, daycare, or early-elementary teaching background
  • Bilingual (Spanish, Mandarin, Hindi, Korean)

Responsibilities

  • Teach 4 to 8 early childhood music classes per week.
  • Utilize a provided curriculum to teach music concepts through engaging methods like sing-alongs, storytelling, and movement.
  • Adapt teaching methods to suit different age groups (1-7 years old) and class formats.
  • Manage small class sizes (typically 3-6 children) ensuring individual attention.
  • Communicate with parents during drop-off and pick-up, and potentially during classes for younger age groups.
  • Use provided studio instruments, props, and visual materials.
  • Participate in the hiring process which may include an audition.
