About The Position

Red Oak Behavioral Health is seeking a compassionate and experienced Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist (ECMH Specialist) to support children ages birth to five in childcare centers, preschool programs, schools, and community settings. The Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist provides mental health consultation, assessment, behavioral support, and Social Emotional Learning (SEL) programming for young children in educational and community-based settings. The ECMH Specialist also delivers trauma-informed training and positive behavior support strategies to educators and caregivers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Behavioral Health, or related field
  • Experience working with young children and families in behavioral health, early intervention, education, or community mental health settings
  • Knowledge of: Early childhood development; trauma-informed care; Social Emotional Learning (SEL); Positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS); Behavioral health interventions
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in fast-paced environments
  • Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and compassionate care

Nice To Haves

  • Ohio ECMH Credential preferred or actively pursuing credentialing

Responsibilities

  • Provide early childhood mental health consultation in schools, childcare centers, and community programs
  • Deliver evidence-based interventions and behavioral health support services for children ages birth to five
  • Conduct behavioral assessments and develop behavior intervention plans
  • Implement Social Emotional Learning (SEL) programming
  • Provide parent coaching, family support, and caregiver consultation
  • Train teachers and school staff in trauma-informed practices and positive behavior management
  • Complete clinical documentation, progress notes, and outcome reporting accurately and timely
  • Collaborate with community partners, educators, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Support data collection and program evaluation initiatives
  • Participate in the annual Ohio Early Childhood Mental Health Conference and ongoing ECMH training opportunities
