About The Position

Greater Cincinnati Behavioral Health Services (GCBHS) is hiring a full-time Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant to promote social-emotional wellness in early childhood settings through education, consultation, and trauma-informed support. As the region’s most comprehensive behavioral healthcare provider, GCBHS serves over 30,000 individuals annually through a wide array of programs and services. With over 700 dedicated employees, we are committed to empowering lives and strengthening communities. As a Prevention Specialist, you will serve young children and families by partnering with early childhood education providers—including Head Start programs, childcare centers, and preschools—to promote positive social-emotional development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Early Childhood or Elementary Education, Psychology, Social Work, or a related human services field
  • Ohio Teaching License or LSW, LPC is required
  • Ability to obtain Early Childhood Mental Health Credential within 2 years
  • Strong knowledge of early childhood development
  • Culturally competent and trauma-informed practice
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and active listening skills
  • Ability to work independently and across interdisciplinary teams
  • Comfort traveling between program sites

Nice To Haves

  • Infant Mental Health Practitioner Credential
  • Trauma-Informed Care, Mental Health First Aid, or QPR certificates
  • Prior training or experience in trauma care is highly valued

Responsibilities

  • Conduct classroom observations and provide behavior management consultation
  • Teach social-emotional lessons to small groups and classrooms
  • Develop individualized support plans in collaboration with educators and families
  • Refer families to community-based services as needed
  • Lead trainings on trauma, ACEs, resilience, parenting, and mental health
  • Represent GCBHS at community meetings and stakeholder events
