About The Position

This role involves developing, implementing, and evaluating a child-centered curriculum that adheres to national accreditation requirements. The Lead Teacher will plan and deliver age-appropriate educational activities, supervise classroom assistants, and coordinate with other staff for interclass projects. A key aspect of this position is fostering strong relationships with children, families, and the community, while also identifying and addressing individual developmental needs through assessments and individualized learning plans. The role also includes supervising practicum and internship students.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, implements, and evaluates child-centered and age-appropriate curriculum.
  • Prepares weekly lesson plans in accordance with established curriculum goals and objectives.
  • Provides daily age-appropriate educational activities for students.
  • Plans and implements special events and classroom activities.
  • Supervises classroom activities of students.
  • Assigns classroom activities to assistants.
  • Works closely with other teaching staff to coordinate and plan interclass projects and activities.
  • Supervises all playground student activities and behavior.
  • Plans and implements outdoor curricular activities.
  • Works closely with families to discuss student progress, concerns, and needs.
  • Participates in regular parent conferences and pre-semester orientations.
  • Works to maintain strong, positive relationships with children, families, colleagues, and the community.
  • Continually seeks creative ways to inspire, foster, and support parental involvement.
  • Administers assessments to children to measure social and emotional risks and resiliency.
  • Utilizes assessment tools and observational skills to identify developmental needs and devises learning plans.
  • Adheres to the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct and Statement of Commitment.
  • Coordinates the activities of early childhood education practicum and internship students.
  • Meets with early childhood education faculty and co-teaching staff to evaluate internship and practicum students.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
