About The Position

Zoot Adventure Learning Academy is seeking a full-time Early Childhood Lead Teacher. This role involves collaborating with the Director to create and implement an educational program that meets children's developmental, cognitive, emotional, and social needs. The Lead Teacher will develop lesson plans based on the Creative Curriculum, assess children's progress, and supervise Early Childhood Teachers and Interns. Daily communication with families is a key responsibility. The Lead Teacher will have the opportunity to personalize their classroom environment. Zoot Adventure Learning Academy aims to provide a safe and nurturing space for children to grow and explore, offering services for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. The academy focuses on whole-child well-being through play-based learning, both indoors and outdoors, to ignite the future.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Adult/Infant First Aid/AED/CPR Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • Valid State of Montana Driver License with clean driving record.
  • Current Immunizations: Tetanus (within the past 10 years) MMR (measles/mumps/rubella.)
  • Level 2 or higher on MT Practitioner Registry
  • Excellent oral and written language skills to communicate with children and adults.
  • Ability to successfully pass state regulated background screening including criminal record, Child & Adult Protective Services, FBI fingerprinting, motor vehicle records, and sign a health attestation.
  • Willing to complete 16 hours of annual, approved training.
  • Ability to successfully pass background screening and drug test.
  • Ability to move about inside a classroom environment which includes the operation of computers and other office productivity machinery in addition to standard classroom materials, frequent written and verbal communications and interactions with children, parents, caregivers, other employees, clients, vendors, and visitors, and time spent outdoors.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and kneel, walking, standing, sit on the floor, and lifting up to 40lbs and participating in all variety of physical activities that take place in a childcare setting.

  • Previous childcare experience with ages 6 weeks – 6 years old.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with the Director to plan, create, and implement a program that fulfills children’s educational, developmental, cognitive, emotional and social needs.
  • Developing long and short-term lesson plans based on the Creative Curriculum and philosophy of ZALA.
  • Assessing the developmental progress of the children.
  • Supervising the Early Childhood Teachers and Interns assigned to his or her room.
  • Daily communication with families.
  • Arranging the classroom to reflect personality and ZALA’s approach and curriculum.
  • Assisting in preparing the childcare environment, setting up interest centers, and preparing needed materials and supplies, and organizing special events from set up to tear down.
  • Providing break coverage for all staff for lunch or lesson planning by stepping into each classroom as necessary while carrying out classroom schedules and activities as instructed.
  • Responding to the children with dignity and respect.
  • Helping children become aware of their roles as integral members of a group.
  • Providing general knowledge of childcare skills such as diaper changes, toilet use, bottle and solid food feeding, naps, etc.
  • Providing support to the entire center by washing and drying laundry, preparing and serving meals, removing, washing and storing dishes, etc.
  • General cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting of the childcare center.
  • Managing aspects of meal service including tracking daily attendance for meals, understanding safe food handling practices, and managing allergy alerts for children and their meals.
  • Managing and maintaining inventory lists including food, cleaning supplies, art supplies, and office supplies and notifying supervisor when inventory is low.
  • Maintaining professional attitude and loyalty to center at all times.
  • Attending all staff meetings, recommended training programs, and conferences.
  • Ensuring the confidentiality of all records of the children, families, and staff.
  • Reporting any suspected abuse to Child Protective Services immediately.
  • Maintaining a safe and healthy environment per program goals and state regulations.
  • Inspecting and replacing damaged or lost materials.
  • Meeting and maintaining all applicable licensing regulations as required for Early Childhood Educators in a state-licensed center.
  • Compliance with and knowledge of ZALA’s Policies and Procedures, Code of Business Conduct, and Employee Agreement.
  • Achieving a service-focused culture with emphasis on delivering on-time, high-quality products and services to internal and external customers.
  • Other duties as assigned.
