About The Position

Carrier Sekani Family Services (CSFS) is seeking an Early Childhood Educator for a casual position in Burns Lake, BC. CSFS is a leader in Indigenous health and family services, emphasizing culture in its operations. The role involves ensuring the supervision, safety, and well-being of children, planning and implementing age-appropriate activities that foster creativity, learning, and development, and ensuring compliance with childcare licensing standards. The position also requires partnering with Elders and community resources for cultural education and collaborating with other staff for effective resource utilization.

Requirements

Diploma in Early Childhood Education (with Special Needs certificate), or Post graduate courses related to child development and special needs is required
A minimum of two (2) years of experience working with children

Responsibilities

Responsible for the supervision, safety and wellbeing of the children
Shares in the responsibility for planning, preparing and implementing stimulating, age appropriate activities that encourage children’s creativity and learning and promote each child’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development
Ensure the program operates at all times in compliance with all child care licensing standards
Partner with Elders and other community resources to organize and deliver cultural education for children and families
Engages in positive collaboration with other programs and early childhood educators of the centre in coordinating the effective use of equipment, facilities and personnel.
