About The Position

In this role, you will work collaboratively within a team to support inclusive, play-based learning experiences and contribute to the delivery of a high-quality early learning program. Guided by How Does Learning Happen?, Ontario’s pedagogy for the early years, you will help create a supportive environment that promotes the well-being, belonging, engagement, and expression of every child and family. You will assist Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECEs) in implementing play-based programming, supporting children’s self-regulation, and fostering positive relationships with families and community partners. A key part of your role will be to uphold and integrate the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) into daily practices, ensuring that all children and families feel respected, represented, and valued. Your responsibilities also include contributing to pedagogical documentation, maintaining compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), and supporting a safe, inclusive, and responsive classroom environment.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education (ECE).
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE).
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C (Infant and Child) certification.
  • Knowledge of the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014 (CCEYA) and How Does Learning Happen? (HDLH).
  • Strong skills in teamwork, time management, and communication.
  • Experience working with young children in early learning settings.
  • Familiarity with inclusive practices and supporting diverse learning needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Second language proficiency considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside the team to implement and uphold the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion by creating a welcoming, respectful, and responsive learning environment that reflects and values the unique identities and experiences of all children and families.
  • Collaborate with the RECE to observe, document, and reflect on children’s learning experiences.
  • Assist in creating meaningful pedagogical documentation that makes children’s learning visible to families and educators.
  • Contribute to the planning of curriculum by using documentation to support play-based learning, guided by the principles of How Does Learning Happen?, Ontario’s pedagogy for the early years.
  • Ensure all practices align with and implement the guidelines and regulations set out by the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) to maintain a safe, compliant, and high-quality learning environment.
