The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applications for Early Childhood Educator 2, Lynn Bennett Early Childhood Education, College of Education. This is a Head Teacher position at the UNLV/CSUN Preschool located in the Lynn Bennett Early Childhood Education Center. The role involves working knowledge of how children learn in each domain (physical, social, emotional, cognitive, linguistic, and general learning competencies), and the application of teaching strategies that address all developmental domains in early childhood. It also requires general knowledge of family relationships in early childhood education settings, design of learning centers to encourage play-based learning, observation and assessment tools, emergency protocols, ethics requirements, and effective, developmentally appropriate, and stimulating indoor/outdoor learning environments. The ability to plan activities and contribute to curriculum, recognize and respond to children's behavior, identify and participate in appropriate guidance approaches, assist in the design of the learning center, set up the learning environment and implement schedules, collaborate with supervisors in communicating with families, participate in parent-teacher conferences, adhere to plans for children with disabilities or special needs, practice emergency drills, implement a safe and effective environment, work with diverse backgrounds, and convey inclusion and belonging are essential. The position also supports experiences for future teachers.
