About The Position

This position functions with considerable independence, reporting to and receiving assistance when needed from the Early Childhood Education Site Supervisor. The role involves working with birth to three aged children and their families, focusing on early childhood education practices and developmental milestones.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field OR CDA for infants and toddlers
  • 24 months teaching experience in an early learning setting (required if CDA route is taken)
  • Must possess, or be able to obtain a First Aid/CPR Certification within thirty (30) days of employment
  • Must possess, or be able to obtain a Food Handler’s permit, TB Test, and Health Clearance within ten (10) days of employment
  • Must successfully clear an extensive Criminal History Background Inquiry that indicates no conviction(s) of crimes involving a child or other serious offenses
  • Must have maintained a substance free lifestyle for the last year (1) and continue maintaining this lifestyle during employment
  • Willingness to sign and adhere to the Tribes Substance Abuse Policy and the Head Start’s Healthy Lifestyle Policy in addition to submitting to program testing procedures
  • Knowledge and understanding of Early Childhood Education practices and developmental milestones
  • Mentally healthy to meet the needs of birth to three aged children and their families
  • Nine (9) months experience in interpreting and developing and implementing curriculum and education plans in a classroom setting
  • Nine (9) months experience in recognizing that children have individual rates of development as well as individual interest, temperaments, languages, cultural backgrounds and learning styles
  • Nine (9) months experience in interpreting and in the facilitation and implementation of observation, child’s outcomes, assessments and individualization of children
  • Ability to work with birth to three aged children and children with disabilities
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime hours as needed for parent activities
  • Demonstrated ability to speak publicly, and communicate in writing and oral form
  • Ability to speak in public

Nice To Haves

  • Teaching experience in an early learning setting (preferred if Associate’s Degree route is taken)
  • Possess and maintain a valid State Driver’s License and be eligible for the Tribes’ Vehicle Insurance
