This role supports the RECE and other ECA staff in facilitating the development and behavior of children, supporting the implementation and evaluation of age-appropriate programs, and building meaningful relationships with the children. The position requires meeting health, welfare, and safety needs, implementing preventative health and safety measures, and adhering to all requirements set out by Local Public Health and CCEYA Act. The role also involves maintaining a safe environment, operating and maintaining facilities, and monitoring cleanliness and sanitation. Additionally, the position requires building and maintaining meaningful relationships with families, orienting them to the program, providing family resources, and advocating for children and families. Record keeping includes completing daily logs and attending meetings. The incumbent reports directly to the Childcare Center Supervisor and has no direct reports. There are minor material responsibilities related to toys and equipment. The role involves frequent lifting/moving of equipment and children, moderate teaching, use of tablets for parent communication, potential intervention in physical confrontations, cleaning, and lifting up to 30 pounds. Exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, verbal abuse, tantrums, and noise are also part of the working conditions. The position requires a willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army.
