About The Position

The Early Childhood Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for infants ages 6 weeks to 24 months. This role assists with implementing developmentally appropriate activities, supervising children throughout the day, and meeting each child's individual developmental and emotional needs. The Assistant Teacher helps maintain a clean, healthy, and stimulating classroom while promoting learning through play, exploration, and positive interactions. This position works collaboratively with staff and families, follows all state licensing and safety regulations, participates in ongoing training and professional development, and provides classroom coverage as needed to support the changing needs of the center. Flexibility to work in all infant classrooms is required.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge and practical application of principles of childhood growth and development.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply Early Childhood Development theory in daily activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to the individual needs of infants.
  • Demonstrated decision and problem solving abilities.
  • Ability to understand the ECLT routine when it comes to delivering a lesson plan and running the class in the event that the ECLT is absent.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team member collaborating with staff, families and community resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain respectful relations and communication with staff, families, children and community.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise infants and ensure a safe environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond to events happening at all times in classroom, and outdoor play areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow the ECLT tasks throughout the day.
  • Ability to receive oversight and guidance from an onsite Lead Teacher or Director.
  • Must be at least 16 years old.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or HiSET preferred.
