Early Childhood Assistant Teacher (3- & 4-Year-Old Classroom)
About The Position
Union County Community Action, Inc. (UCCA) is seeking caring and dependable early childhood professionals to support our Head Start classrooms serving 3- and 4-year- old children by assisting teachers with classroom activities and providing safe transportation services for children and families. The role involves assisting teachers with classroom activities and lesson plans, supporting children's development, maintaining documentation, supervising children, assisting with transportation, and building positive relationships with children and families. The starting rate is up to $18.50 per hour, with a consistent daytime schedule of Monday–Friday 6:45am-2:45pm (40 hours/week).
Requirements
- High School Diploma/ GED
- Child Development Associate (CDA)
- Six months to one year of related experience preferred
- Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Development or related field preferred (for Assistant Teacher/ Bus Driver II)
- EDU 119 required
- CDL required or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment
- CPR and First Aid certification required or ability to obtain
- Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screening and TB test, and must submit to random drug screenings.
- Valid driver’s license required
Responsibilities
- Assist teachers with classroom activities and lesson plans
- Support children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development
- Maintain classroom documentation and records
- Supervise children in classroom and outdoor settings
- Assist with transportation by driving or monitoring buses
