About The Position

Waynflete is seeking an Early Childhood Assistant Extended Day Teacher for a part-time, 10-month position for the 2026-2027 school year. This on-site role reports to the Manager of Auxiliary Programs. The Extended Day Program aims to meet students' needs after the school day concludes, offering a variety of activities such as arts and crafts, sports, science exploration, team building, outdoor play, STEAM, cooking, multi-generational lessons, and community service. The program provides a relaxed setting for students to learn, grow, and socialize, with activities ranging from homework help to physical activities. The program emphasizes an inclusive, supportive community, engaging outdoor activities, free choice, socializing, and academic support guided by nurturing staff. Assistant Teachers will implement a weekly schedule balancing outdoor free play with organized games and craft choices as designed by the Lead Extended Day Teacher.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience working with children in an Early Childhood setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Dedicated to working collaboratively with a diverse team of talented teachers.
  • Passion for working with children and creating meaningful experiences.
  • Describe yourself as kind, friendly, patient, flexible, creative and energetic!

Nice To Haves

  • CPR/First Aid/AED certified preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise students in the Early Childhood classroom for the Extended Day program.
  • Be in person for all days and hours noted.
  • Work at least one First Out (5:30pm) per week.
  • Assist with activities such as: games, songs, program projects and more.
  • Interact with students and colleagues from a place of enthusiasm, curiosity and professionalism.
  • Keep the safety of students in mind at all times.
  • Diligently track attendance.
  • Complete prep and end of day clean up responsibilities.
  • Communicate incidents in a timely manner to the Auxiliary Programs Manager.
  • Participate in all of the Full Fun Days (10/23/25, 1/15/27, 3/19/27, 5/7/27, 5/14/27).
  • Complete DHHS requirements: fingerprinting approval, MRTQ registration, MMR and Tdap vaccination records, online safety training, professional development hours, etc.
