Early-Career Geotechnical Engineer
About The Position
Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Early-Career Geotechnical Engineer in our Denver, CO office. This position offers the potential opportunity for a hybrid schedule, based upon the company’s discretion. The position will have the opportunity to apply academic knowledge to real-world situations on geohazard projects involving site characterization; shallow and deep foundations; retaining structures; numerical analysis of stability and deformation; geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring; and geohazard characterization and mitigation, while learning the business skills needed for a successful consulting career. Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (required) in Civil Engineering (Concentration: Geotechnical Engineering (preferred)), or Geological Engineering, or similar degree.
- Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
- Regular field work and overnight travel. (required)
- Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
Nice To Haves
- Master's or PhD degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering (Concentration: Geotechnical Engineering), or Geological Engineering. (preferred)
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification. (preferred)
- Prior internship or work experience in engineering consulting. (preferred)
- Strong fundamentals in geotechnical engineering theory and practice.
- Experience with geotechnical and engineering software such as AutoCAD, SLIDE, PDF EDITOR (such as ADOBE or BLUEBEAM), ArcGIS, and LPILE. (preferred)
- Experience with programming language, such as Python, Java, and JavaScript. (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Conducting geotechnical field investigations and site characterizations
- Conducting fieldwork associated with instrumentation and monitoring projects
- Data analysis, including preparing maps, tables, and figures
- Performing and reviewing engineering calculations
- Developing construction documents, including drawings and specifications
- Writing and reviewing technical reports, letters, memoranda, and proposals
- Monitoring heavy civil construction projects
- Driving personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed
