About The Position

This early-career role offers the opportunity to join SLR Consulting (Americas), supporting integrated environmental and sustainability services. You will collaborate with experienced professionals, contribute to impactful project work, and build a strong technical foundation in environmental and sustainability consulting. Your interest in the environment and applied problem-solving will see you supporting and progressively leading programs across our mining, power, and energy sectors. While your work will include field-based activities such as site assessments, monitoring, and investigation support, you will also play a key role in the interpretation and communication of results including data management, analysis, and technical reporting, with opportunities to contribute to broader technical disciplines including our air quality, geochemistry, hydrology, and hydrogeology teams. Fieldwork is a core component of the position and foundational to developing the technical judgement, site awareness, and confidence required for long-term success in consulting. No two days are the same in this role. You’ll lead and support a variety of projects across urban and remote locations, working on sites that range in size and complexity. You will gain hands-on experience that builds technical judgement, confidence, and site awareness essential to progressing within SLR. Your knowledge and experience will be invaluable to our team and will see you involved in the full life cycle of projects as you assist the project manager with budgeting, planning, coordinating, and executing projects, data analysis and reviews, and reporting. Requirements

  • Minimum of a degree or a technical diploma in environmental science, engineering, geology, hydrogeology, or related studies.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in contaminated site work including supporting and leading environmental site assessments (Phase I, II, and III ESAs), soil and groundwater sampling programs, and remediation programs.
  • Comfortable with frequent field work and motivated to build a strong technical foundation through hands-on site experience.
  • Available to work away from home occasionally for up to 2 weeks at a time.
  • Ability to work independently and in small teams, including in remote locations and varied field conditions.
  • Knowledge and practical application of health & safety requirements unique to subsurface investigations at contaminated sites, and environmental monitoring at construction sites.
  • Professional status or eligibility for professional status with a professional organization (P.Eng., P.Geo., P.Ag., E.I.T., G.I.T., A.Sc.T, P.Tech, C.E.T., etc.)
  • Valid driver’s license for travel to job sites.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with construction environmental monitoring, environmental compliance monitoring, climate accounting or geochemistry would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting project managers with project planning and coordination, reporting, and tracking schedules and budget.
  • Participating in fieldwork programs involving sampling and monitoring of soil, groundwater, soil vapour, and surface water and other environmental media.
  • Assisting with the preparation of a variety of technical reports.
  • Assisting with technical and financial proposal preparation
