About The Position

SLR Consulting (Canada) is seeking an Early Career Environmental Scientist/Engineer to join their Land Quality and Remediation team in Saskatoon. This role involves executing and leading programs for the assessment, monitoring, management, and remediation of contaminated sites. The position offers a variety of projects at urban and remote sites, including oil and gas facilities, commercial/industrial properties, and government sites. The successful candidate will assist project managers with budgeting, planning, coordination, execution, data analysis, and reporting, with opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a degree or a technical diploma in environmental science, engineering, geology, hydrogeology, or related studies.
  • 0-5 years of experience in contaminated site work including leading and supporting environmental site assessments (Phase I, II, and III ESAs), soil and groundwater sampling, and remediation and reclamation programs.
  • Knowledge and practical application of health & safety requirements unique to oil and gas facilities, construction sites, subsurface investigations, and contaminated sites.
  • A strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork is essential.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze and solve complex problems.
  • Able to work independently, in small teams, and within larger multidisciplinary teams, including ability to work in remote locations and adapt to conditions/resources.
  • Passion for fieldwork and available to work away from home occasionally for up to 2 weeks at a time.
  • Basic knowledge of upstream and downstream oil and gas processes.
  • Valid driver’s license for travel to job sites/clients.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in upstream oil and gas assessment, remediation and reclamation would be considered an asset but is not required.
  • Professional status or eligibility for professional status with a professional organization (P.Eng., P.Geo., P.Ag., E.I.T., G.I.T., C.Tech., P.Tech, C.E.T., etc.) would be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Contributing to a positive team environment and safety by communicating clearly and proactively.
  • Participating in all facets of environmental or contaminated site projects including Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, remediation and reclamation programs, and long-term environmental monitoring of sites.
  • Participating in fieldwork programs involving sampling and monitoring of soil, groundwater, soil vapour, and surface water, as well as decommissioning and remediation programs, and remediation system operation and maintenance.
  • Assisting with the preparation of a variety of technical reports.
  • Supporting project managers with project planning and coordination, reporting, and tracking schedules and budget.
  • Assisting with technical and financial proposal preparation.
