About The Position

This role involves managing maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) inventory, including researching and negotiating with vendors, assigning preventative maintenance duties, issuing and receiving parts, and managing work orders using the J.D. Edwards EAM system. The position also serves as a communication hub for the maintenance crew, provides training on standard operating procedures, assists with parts research and organization, and manages the rebuildable parts process.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • 3 or more years of hands-on experience working in a maintenance shop or running a parts inventory in an automotive, manufacturing or distributorship type inventory storeroom.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of JDE and AS400 is needed or will have to be learned.
  • Fundamental knowledge of inventory control and parts management.
  • Hands-on experience of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Good communications skills both written and verbal.
  • Excellent organization skills with an applied understanding of mathematics.
  • Ability to follow instructions and enforce strict security rules.
  • Willing to work the time that is needed to keep the parts room in order.
  • Willing to acquire further education and training at qualified, accredited seminars, workshops, and institutions to keep abreast of new technologies and enhance existing job skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree preferred.
  • 1 or more years of using a computerized inventory system preferred with knowledge of parts usage and relative value.
  • An applied knowledge of computerized inventory control systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Process MRO parts in and out of designated parts bins and kitting area using the J.D. Edwards EAM computer system.
  • Collect and enter completed work orders into the EAM System, completing Time Entry function and posting time card journal.
  • Select and meet with vendors, providing specifications for repairing and ordering new parts.
  • Research new vendors for quality and price comparisons.
  • Assign maintenance personnel daily preventative maintenance tasks and maintain a log database of PMs.
  • Negotiate pricing with contractors and vendors.
  • Provide leadership to the maintenance crew in identifying, selecting, and processing needed parts for work order jobs.
  • Help maintenance crew determine job priorities.
  • Generate detailed shift-by-shift schedules of PM and maintain constant communication with the Production Scheduler.
  • Process work orders in their respective status codes for parts check, order fulfilling, and parts kitting.
  • Maintain status updates daily and process work orders appropriately.
  • Perform good housekeeping practices in the parts area and timely processing of part disposition.
  • Maintain bin allocation for adding new parts, removing obsolete parts, and changing bin locations.
  • Check designated receiving areas for MRO parts frequently, match shipment against packing slip, note parts disposition, and process accordingly.
  • Put newly received and returned over-issued parts away, recording in the EAM system and correcting parts issued on the appropriate W/O.
  • Process returned parts for return to vendor, rebuild, or disposal.
  • Monitor inventory for slow-moving, obsolete parts, excessive build-up, stockouts, or parts with no destination and process accordingly.
  • Monitor inventory systems monthly for effectiveness, inefficiencies, waste, confusion, or areas for better service, and provide a summary report with suggestions for improvements.
  • Responsible for following all Food Safety policies, procedures, and regulatory criterion including the current SQF code, Good Manufacturing Practices, and the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and associated Preventive Controls.
