About The Position

This position is available only to enrolled American University students and is primarily for those eligible for Federal Work Study (FWS). The Center for Leadership & Community Engagement (CLCE) is seeking an organized, self-motivated, and passionate student to assist in coordinating programs that recognize and empower students involved in Community-Based work. The role focuses on managing the Eagle Endowment for Public & Community Service, a unique student-led program that provides grants and mentorship to AU students for social action projects. The position involves managing funds, an Advisory Council, projects, visibility, and impact reports. This year's focus is on capacity building, including recruiting and leading a student Advisory Council, managing a budget of approximately $10,000, and preparing for a 25-year Anniversary Event and a Greek Life Subgrants collaboration. The ideal candidate would ideally stay in this role for at least two years to ensure continuity.

Requirements

  • Must be an enrolled American University student.
  • Eligible to use Federal Work Study (FWS) awards.
  • Adept at using Excel, AI tools, Canva, Canvas, surveying tool (Qualtrics/MS Forms) and a project tool (ToDoist).
  • Familiar with MS Outlook and Teams.
  • Proactive and growth-oriented leader (enjoys strategizing, developing systems and timelines, comfortable delegating and analyzing data) who has a passion for Community Development.
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
  • Diligent, curious, and a quick learner.
  • Professionalism, reliability, and responsiveness with stakeholder communications.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing a growing program with a team and budget for at least a year.
  • Ideal candidates would be in this role for at least 2 years to build continuity.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily operations, lead Advisory Council, execute grant cycles, oversee website and social media, manage budget and timeline for key initiatives.
  • Create annual reports showcasing projects and be the public face of the Eagle Endowment at conferences, meetings, class presentations, alumni events, etc.
  • Create partnerships to advance fundraising, resources for projects, and engagement with the Eagle Endowment grants and Council.
  • Review grant applications, conduct interviews with applicants, and ensure grant recipients execute meaningful projects with integrity.
