About The Position

Chemours is seeking an Electrical & Instrumentation Technician to join our growing Facilities Maintenance team. This position will be available at the Chemours Discovery Hub in Newark, DE, and report directly to the Engineering, Maintenance & Quality Manager. The Electrical & Instrumentation Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of electrical and instrumentation systems that support laboratory and pilot-scale operations. This position is responsible for installation, preventive maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of a wide range of equipment in a dynamic R&D environment. Working within a fast-paced, research-driven setting, the technician will support both standard and custom-built systems, partnering closely with engineers, scientists, and operations teams to maintain safe, efficient, and highly adaptable lab operations. This role reports directly to the Engineering, Maintenance & Quality Manager and supports the Discovery Hub, with occasional work at the Experimental Station Laboratories and the Elkton-Tenzing sites, requiring flexibility across locations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED with 3–5 years of Electrical & Instrumentation experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, technical documentation, and understand electrical systems, PLCs, and instrumentation
  • Knowledge of electrical safety practices and the national codes/regulations (NEC, NFPA)
  • Basic computer skills, including email and Microsoft Office
  • Physical ability to perform job tasks (climbing, kneeling, lifting up to 50 lbs.) and wear required PPE, including supplied-air full-face respirator

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Engineering Technology, or completion of an Electrical Apprenticeship program
  • 5+ years of Electrical & Instrumentation experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Experience working in Process Safety Management (PSM) environments and understanding of chemical/industrial processes
  • Familiarity with safe work practices, including work permitting, Lockout/Tagout, and Line Break
  • Strong overall knowledge of electrical systems, instrumentation, and industrial operations

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a strong commitment to safety by adhering to all environmental, health, and operational procedures
  • Inspect, maintain, calibrate, and repair instrumentation and electrical systems, including pressure regulators, relief devices, and control valves
  • Troubleshoot low-voltage electrical systems and instrumentation using diagnostic tools (multimeters, clamp meters, etc.)
  • Diagnose and maintain process instrumentation (Pressure, Temperature, Level, Flow)
  • Diagnose and maintain AC/DC variable speed drives
  • Support and troubleshoot control systems (PLCs, DCS, ControlLogix, RSLogix)
  • Apply technical documentation (drawings, manuals, specifications) and collaborate with vendors to resolve complex issues
  • Participate in maintenance planning, job plans, SOP development, and work order documentation
  • Support preventive and predictive maintenance programs to improve reliability and reduce downtime
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to continuously improve lab and equipment performance
