About The Position

The Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Technician position is located in Burley, ID or Pocatello, ID. This role involves executing electrical, controls, and instrumentation duties at petroleum product and crude oil facilities, specifically at pipeline and terminal facilities. The majority of the work will be at the Burley and Pocatello Terminals, focusing on Acculoads in the loadrack and Vapor Combustor Units (VCU). The position also offers field support to various other Marathon Pipe Line LLC processes and departments. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and repairing medium/low voltage equipment, calibrating and troubleshooting transmitters, electronic devices, and GE/Modicon Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). The role requires the ability to troubleshoot problems, work independently, and collaborate within a team. Travel and overtime are expected on an as-needed basis. The position is on-call during the week for their designated area and will participate in an on-call rotation for weekends. For emergency response purposes, the candidate must reside within 45 minutes of the Burley or Pocatello Terminals reporting location.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Previous electrical or instrumentation experience
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree in a related technical field is preferred
  • Petroleum Terminal specific electrical and instrumentation regarding loadrack Acculoads and VCUs is preferred
  • Petroleum Pipeline specific electrical and instrumentation experience is preferred
  • Experience with GE and Modicon PLC logic is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance, coordinate and communicate maintenance activities
  • Respond to and resolve station alarms and communicate findings to appropriate parties
  • Generate computerized work requests for maintenance tasks
  • Complete specific preventative maintenance and routine electrical work orders on time for their respective areas
  • Perform electrical work for small operational led projects which typically include conduit and wire installation/terminations.
  • Issue work permits, follow company standards/procedures, and perform LOTO for electrical energy isolation
  • Understand Electrical/P&ID drawings and create markups as needed
  • Work closely and assist local Mechanical Technician as needed
  • Perform work in a safe and environmentally conscious manner in accordance with all Environmental, Safety and Regulatory requirements
