About The Position

The basic function of the E&I Technician is to install, troubleshoot, clean, inspect, calibrate, and maintain electrical, instrumentation, and distributive control equipment throughout the facility in a safe and professional manner. This role involves performing electrical preventive, repair, and calibration maintenance procedures safely and professionally with adequate supervision. The technician will be expected to access and read PLC/DCS program control logic to diagnose and troubleshoot problems, initiate and complete work-orders, and document critical information. Availability for scheduled and unscheduled overtime, as well as responding to emergency repairs during off-hours, is required. The position also involves taking proactive measures for improvement opportunities, performing lesser skilled duties when needed, and completing plant training programs within the prescribed timeframe. The technician will identify and use basic and precision measuring tools, follow standard safety procedures, correct hazards, and report them immediately. Clear communication, both verbally and in writing, is essential, as is the ability to anticipate and resolve typical and recurring problems with equipment. Operation of other equipment, including industrial forklifts, manlifts, and skid steer loaders, may also be required.

Requirements

  • Understand and follow all safety procedures.
  • Be current on all safety trainings.
  • Wear all required PPE when necessary (steel toe boots, safety glasses, ear plugs).
  • Understand Lock Out Tag Out procedures for assigned areas.
  • Perform duties according to OSHA guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Complete General Plant Safety Training within the first 8 weeks.
  • Able to use and read available documentation (PID’s/loop sheets/motor elementaries, etc.).
  • Ability to size an electrical panel based components for install.
  • Ability to size components and wiring based on electrical schematic.
  • Ability to build electrical automation enclosure based on schematics and plant requirements.
  • Ability to diagnose problems with programmable controllers on equipment and operate electrical testing equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety documents, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to complete work orders and enter the required paperwork into a computer.
  • Able to interpret PLC ladder logic.
  • Must understand solid state circuitry and 24V, 110V, 220V, 440V, and 480V systems.
  • Must be able to lift at least 50lbs and to push-pull up to 75lbs.
  • Must be able to work long periods while continuously standing, twisting, bending, reaching, and stooping.
  • Must be able to work in plant environment with extreme seasonal temperatures.
