Generally responsible for performing all aspects for complete design of complex electrical and instrumentation assignments using theoretical knowledge and practical design methods. This level requires extensive progressive experience in electrical and instrumentation design and involves applying advanced design techniques and analysis. This position requires some supervision of less experienced personnel. This work will be performed under general supervision. Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to: Familiarity with and utilizing department design and drafting standards. Recognizing and communicating project scope, specifications and design criteria upon assignment to a project task team. Producing installation details, motor control center single lines, electric room layouts, motor control elementaries, connection diagrams, cable schedules, control panel layouts and grounding, lighting, power and instrumentation plans under minimal supervision. Recognizing and communicating scope and design changes promptly. On-site assistance during startup. Providing technical guidance to less experienced drafting personnel in the department. Coordinating work activities with other staff members and the discipline lead. Producing 480VAC equipment specifications with engineering review and approval. Producing 15kV/5kV equipment specifications with engineering review and approval. Producing electrical installation specifications with engineering review and approval. Complete understanding of the skills and experience required to perform design functions.
