About The Position

Third Future Schools is seeking a DYAD Woodshop Consultant for South Waco Elementary in Waco, TX. This role will lead engaging elective classes for students using the DYAD Electives model, which focuses on building 21st-century skills through hands-on learning. The DYAD program connects classroom learning with community-based expertise, bringing individuals with real-world knowledge to provide meaningful learning opportunities. The consultant will provide an experience through their expertise, helping students build creativity, confidence, self-expression, problem-solving skills, and habits of success through hands-on woodshop experiences and age-appropriate instruction.

Requirements

  • Skill, knowledge, and first-hand experience in woodshop or a related creative field.
  • Ability to work effectively with students in a school setting.
  • Strong communication, organization, and classroom leadership skills.
  • Ability to provide structured, engaging, and experience-based learning.
  • Commitment to professionalism, consistency, and student engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engaging, structured, and experience-based instruction in woodshop.
  • Develop and provide their own curriculum aligned to the elective they teach.
  • Independently plan, lead, and manage a class that reflects both their expertise and the expectations of the DYAD program.
  • Create a safe, orderly, and productive learning environment.
  • Actively teach, monitor, and engage students throughout the class period.
  • Maintain strong classroom management and uphold school expectations.
  • Ensure students are participating in meaningful, hands-on learning experiences.
  • Communicate professionally with campus staff and leadership.
  • Be prepared, consistent, and dependable in daily instruction.
  • Use their expertise to connect classroom learning to real-world experiences.
  • Contribute positively to the culture of the school and the integrity of the DYAD program.
  • Create opportunities for parents and families to see and celebrate what students have accomplished through woodshop showcases, presentations, displays, or other demonstrations of learning.
