About The Position

Third Future Schools is seeking a DYAD STEM Consultant for Hempstead Elementary to lead engaging elective classes for students. This role is part of the DYAD program, which connects classroom learning with community-based expertise to provide meaningful, hands-on learning opportunities. The consultant will provide an experience through their expertise, focusing on building critical thinking, communication, creativity, and other essential 21st-century skills through hands-on learning experiences in STEM or related creative fields. The consultant will develop and provide their own curriculum, manage the class, create a safe learning environment, and ensure students are engaged in meaningful activities. They will also communicate professionally with campus staff, connect classroom learning to real-world experiences, and contribute positively to the school culture. Opportunities for parent and family engagement through showcases or presentations will also be created.

Requirements

Skill, knowledge, and first-hand experience in art or a related creative field
Ability to work effectively with students in a school setting
Strong communication, organization, and classroom leadership skills
Ability to provide structured, engaging, and experience-based learning
Commitment to professionalism, consistency, and student engagement

Responsibilities

Provide engaging, structured, and experience-based instruction in art
Develop and provide their own curriculum aligned to the elective they teach
Independently plan, lead, and manage a class that reflects both their expertise and the expectations of the DYAD program
Create a safe, orderly, and productive learning environment
Actively teach, monitor, and engage students throughout the class period
Maintain strong classroom management and uphold school expectations
Ensure students are participating in meaningful, hands-on learning experiences
Communicate professionally with campus staff and leadership
Be prepared, consistent, and dependable in daily instruction
Use their expertise to connect classroom learning to real-world experiences
Contribute positively to the culture of the school and the integrity of the DYAD program
Create opportunities for parents and families to see and celebrate what students have accomplished through art showcases, presentations, displays, or other demonstrations of learning
