About The Position

Under direct supervision of the DWI Compliance Monitor Supervisor, this role monitors the compliance of DWI offenders sentenced to supervised probation through the Santa Fe Magistrate Court. The position also assists Teen Court clients to determine their needs and helps them successfully complete their probation. This involves attending DWI trailing dockets, contacting non-compliant offenders, requesting court orders for non-compliance, maintaining records, and coordinating with treatment providers and community agencies. The role also includes monitoring drug and alcohol screening results, recommending program development, collecting fees, and interacting with Teen Court clients to assess needs and collaborate with various stakeholders for their successful completion of probation. Additionally, the position is responsible for grant reporting, invoicing, tracking funds, processing client payments, and participating in community outreach and policy evaluation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Four (4) years of experience in psychology, social work, the court systems, law enforcement, or a related field.
  • Any combination of education and/or experience in the above mentioned areas or a closely related field totaling four (4) years.
  • Relevant education may be substituted for work experience at a rate of thirty (30) credit hours equal to one year of experience.
  • Must be able to obtain Notary Public certification within one (1) year of employment.
  • Must complete Court Officers Basic Training and Court Officers Advanced Training courses within one (1) year of employment.
  • Knowledge of how the court systems function.
  • Knowledge of basic law enforcement practices.
  • Knowledge of local and state DWI regulations.
  • Knowledge of substance abuse prevention practices.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare reports.
  • Ability to adhere to strict deadlines and schedules.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of community members, offenders, organizations, law enforcement, court personnel, and other agencies.
  • Ability to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality, integrity, and ethical standards.
  • Skill in operating various word-processing, spreadsheets, database and other software programs in a Windows environment.
  • Skilled in working with a broad range of ages.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors the compliance of DWI offenders sentenced to supervised probation.
  • Assists Teen Court clients to determine their needs and helps them successfully complete their probation.
  • Attends DWI trailing dockets to monitor cases and register defendants for needs assessments and screenings.
  • Contacts non-compliant DWI offenders and attempts to re-enlist them in completing their sentencing requirements.
  • Requests the Court to issue orders to show cause and/or bench warrants for non-compliant DWI offenders.
  • Maintains relevant records, court forms, documentation, and case notes on offenders.
  • Contacts treatment providers, community service agencies, or other programs to evaluate DWI offenders’ compliance.
  • Reviews open cases on a regular basis to determine necessary actions.
  • Attends Court staff meetings as needed.
  • Coordinates with Court administrations regarding scheduling, record keeping, appointments, and databases for processing DWI offenders.
  • Develops and submits reports related to DWI compliance monitoring activities.
  • Monitors drug and alcohol screening results from program participants.
  • Attends meetings and training as appropriate.
  • Recommends development and implementation of the DWI Compliance Monitoring component.
  • Collects fees and transfers them to the DWI Program Screening Clerk.
  • Interacts with Teen Court clients; conducts intake and screening assessments to determine methods of addressing the needs of clients and their families.
  • Collaborates with school staff, district administration, juvenile probation staff, service providers, and other program facilitators to assist Teen Court clients in fulfilling their probation requirements.
  • Completes reporting for grants; follows through on invoicing and tracking of funds; collects and processes client payments; and prepares deposits and reports of online payments.
  • Participates in community outreach activities to educate the public on prevention initiatives.
  • Prepares and evaluates policies to ensure compliance with program requirements.
  • Assists with other departmental needs as requested.
