About The Position

We are now hiring for a full-time DV Program Supervisor to join our Midway DV Courthouse Team! This role oversees a domestic violence advocacy program area and supervises its staff members. The ideal candidate will model initiative by planning, developing, and implementing interventions that meet changing client needs. This position assumes responsibility for grant monitoring and reporting within their program area and is responsible for maintaining the quality and quantity of services. The supervisor provides coaching and support to program staff in crisis management, non-violent communication, and conflict resolution skills, fostering a team-oriented approach that promotes positive interactions. In collaboration with the DV Program Director, the supervisor is responsible for hiring, supervision, and evaluation of staff, interns, and volunteers. This role also oversees scheduling and/or on-call responsibilities of program staff and may rotate on-call duties. The supervisor administers assessments, trains staff in their use and interpretation, and assesses and responds to the needs of survivors using strengths-based interventions. They facilitate group supervision, team meetings, and program/agency meetings, and collaborate with departmental staff and other programs to provide comprehensive services. The supervisor monitors contract, grant, and program expectations, ensuring team members meet timelines and reporting requirements. They conduct program planning, make recommendations, including budget needs, to the DV Program Director. The role may involve carrying a client caseload, providing short-term, strengths-based, trauma-informed services. The supervisor remains cognizant of current developments in the field of domestic violence, attends workshops and conferences for professional development, and establishes and maintains contact with local agencies and organizations, representing Metropolitan Family Services in the community. Services are provided in accordance with the Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professionals’ code of ethics. Other duties may be assigned specific to the needs of the site or program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5 years’ experience, including experience in domestic violence survivor services and other services as appropriate to the specific role.
  • Demonstrated increase in administrative/supervisory responsibilities across time.
  • Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professional (CDVP) certification required by end of first year in role.

Nice To Haves

  • Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professional (CDVP) certification prior to hire
  • Master’s degree or JD (for court programs) plus 3 years’ experience in the field of gender-based violence and/or social services.
  • Court/legal advocacy experience strongly preferred for supervisors of the Court Advocacy Programs.
  • 40-hour Domestic Violence training preferred at time of hire.
  • Bilingual/bicultural preferred, and may be required for particular programs or sites.

  • May carry a client caseload, providing short-term, strengths-based, trauma-informed services to survivors of domestic violence and their children.
  • Remains cognizant of current developments in the field of domestic violence.
  • Attends appropriate workshops, conferences, etc. to enhance professional development and understanding of issues in the field.
  • Establishes and maintains contact with local agencies, organizations, and partnering sites as appropriate.
  • Effectively and professionally represents Metropolitan Family Services and the domestic violence program in the community.
  • Provides services in accordance with the Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professionals’ code of ethics.
  • Performs other duties as assigned that are specific to the needs of the particular site or program that this position oversees.
