About The Position

R Transport / VCT is currently looking for a mechanic to service and repair our modern fleet of tractor trailers in Arlington, WA. R Transport, Inc. is seeking a motivated, dependable Diesel & Trailer Mechanic to join our Arlington, WA shop. This position focuses on general maintenance and repair of Class 8 tractors, dump trucks, and a variety of trailers, including dump (pup) trailers, roll-off trailers, and chassis. We are looking for a self-starter who takes pride in their work, works well independently, and wants to be part of a team that keeps a large fleet safe, reliable, and running efficiently.

Requirements

  • Experience working on Class 8 trucks and trailers preferred
  • Valid Driver's License with Class A or B CDL preferred
  • Must have a professional rolling tool box and hand tools
  • Knowledge of brakes, wheel seals, hubs, suspension, and general mechanical systems
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Welding and fabrication experience
  • Ability to physically lift up to 100lbs
  • Ability to physically be able to climb a ladder
  • Ability to physically open a manual tarp system using upper body strength

Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance and repairs on Class 8 tractors and dump trucks
  • Service and repair dump (pup) trailers, roll-off trailers, chassis and various other trailers
  • Brake inspections, repairs, and adjustments
  • Wheel seals, hubs, and bearing service
  • Greasing and lubrication of fleet equipment
  • Preventative maintenance (PMs) and inspections
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues using multiple means including brand specific computer programming
  • Perform DOT-related repairs and safety items
  • Maintain clean, organized work area and accurate service records
