About The Position

This is a seasonal role, with the season typically running from April through November, potentially extending into December, offering winters off while retaining benefits year-round. The Tractor Trailer Driver is responsible for operating and maintaining an End dump truck to transport materials to designated locations in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Ability to read maps and navigate to new locations.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and recognize matters needing attention and initiate action.
  • Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with difficult people under high stress situations.
  • Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous/respectful of others.
  • General education, grammar and arithmetic, GED or high school diploma or equivalent.
  • A CDL Class A (tractor-trailer).
  • Must have and maintain medical card and acceptable driving record and required endorsements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience driving a belly dump, flow boy, lowboy, tanker, or straight truck.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate Class A truck to transport asphalt or aggregate to job site, often driving on uneven or unfinished surfaces.
  • Inspect trucks for defects before and after trips and submit reports.
  • Maintain driver log according to ICC regulations as required.
  • May operate a loader to load aggregate into the truck box (Loader and MSHA Training/Facial Mask Fit Required).
  • Perform daily maintenance of equipment, including cleaning, greasing, oiling, checking brakes and lights, and any other instructed maintenance.
  • Recognize surroundings and practice traffic awareness to maintain a safe environment.
  • Assist with plant maintenance, repairs, set up, and take downs.
  • Tarp load when needed.
  • Clean spilled material/buildup off the box (spill chutes, belts, side boards).
  • Verify that gates are closed.
  • Complete load tickets.
  • Assist construction crews while waiting to unload.
  • Spread product.
  • Maintain proper information in the truck cab.
  • Report information accurately and completely on daily timecards, truck cab information, and other needed documents.
  • Maintain and support a safe and harassment-free work environment.
  • Ensure OSHA, DOT, EPA, DNR, MSHA, Federal, State, and Local safety and environmental regulation compliance and attend required training.
  • Always work safely and take action to prevent all unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
