About The Position

Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort is seeking a Dual Rate Food & Beverage Cashier. This full-time position involves greeting guests warmly, providing excellent service, processing payments, and assisting team members to ensure overall guest satisfaction. The role requires operating a cash register, settling checks, and maintaining a clean work area. Specific duties vary depending on the assigned area, including EDR Cashier (assisting with cooking), Room Service Cashier (taking orders, managing bankroll, ensuring timely delivery), and potentially supervisory duties such as ensuring service standards, resolving guest complaints, preparing schedules, and conducting pre-shift meetings. The position also involves maintaining positive guest relationships and adhering to all company policies and regulations.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Six months of food service experience is preferred.
  • RASP certification is required (can be completed within 30 days of hire).
  • Able to attend to multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Legible handwriting.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, or divide quickly and correctly.
  • Ability to talk to others to convey information effectively.
  • Willing to learn and be adaptable with attention to detail/observant.
  • Documented teamwork behaviors and attitudes.
  • Neat, professional appearance with excellent personal hygiene.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, reach, kneel, twist, and grasp items.
  • Must be able to have continuous use of hands and arms.
  • Must be able to be on feet for an 8-hour shift.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and carry 5 pounds.
  • Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Must be able to tolerate areas containing varying noise and temperature levels, illumination, vibrations, crowds, and air quality, including secondhand smoke.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests warmly upon entry and throughout their dining experience.
  • Operate a cash register and properly settle guest checks.
  • Receive and process payments via cash, credit cards, comps, or automatic debits.
  • Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to guests.
  • Record tips from credit cards, automatic debits, and comp guests.
  • Maintain a neat and clean work area.
  • Assist guests by providing information and resolving complaints.
  • Balance the register at the end of each shift.
  • Build relationships with guests and demonstrate superior guest service skills.
  • Ensure service recovery activities are performed.
  • Maintain an upbeat and positive attitude, creating an atmosphere of luck and positive energy.
  • Assist in clearing, cleaning, and resetting tables.
  • Provide a warm farewell and thank guests for visiting.
  • Participate as a team member by volunteering and being involved in projects.
  • Adhere to regulatory, departmental, and company policies and procedures.

  • As an EDR Cashier, work behind the serving line as a cook, as needed, controlling food production, handling, and storage.
  • As a Room Service Cashier, accept responsibility for the cash register bankroll, all cash received, credit card charges, complimentary receipts, and charges to rooms.
  • Maintain knowledge of current menu items, pricing, preparation, and accompaniments.
  • Take guests' food and beverage orders in a timely, cordial, and professional manner, noting special requests and processing orders using the computer system.
  • Assure timely delivery of comp requests from VIP Services and other casino departments.
  • Keep accurate log entries for all call-down orders, special requests, and hotel guest charge records.
  • Verify guest room numbers and estimated time of arrival for delivery of amenities.
  • Dispatch and track service person availability for orders and assign deliveries.
  • Notify management of any guest complaints, alleged discrepancies, and/or problems involving Room Service.
  • Assist in routine inspections and monthly inventories of room service equipment.
  • Ensure that all food and beverage products served meet established specifications and standards (Supervisory).
  • Continuously improve service by evaluating service breakdowns and facilitating opportunity-seeking meetings (Supervisory).
  • Address service breakdowns and follow up to ensure guest satisfaction (Supervisory).
  • Resolve all guest complaints and relay to the manager (Supervisory).
  • Ensure adequate supply levels are maintained (Supervisory).
  • Assist with department reporting and data analysis (Supervisory).

  • Meet and greet pool guests to offer a high level of professional service (Selu Restaurant/The Pools).
  • Plan and execute pool and beverage events (Selu Restaurant/The Pools).
