About The Position

A Dual Disorder Specialist provides specialized care and support for individuals diagnosed with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. The role involves assessing clients' needs, developing and implementing treatment plans, and collaborating with other professionals to deliver integrated care. The specialist promotes recovery by addressing the interplay of mental health conditions and substance use, tailoring interventions to support clients in achieving sustainable improvements in their overall well-being.

Requirements

Master’s degree in Human Service and one year of practical experience in essential areas of substance abuse treatment, including assessment, evaluation and clinical interventions OR Bachelor degree in Human Services and 3 years of paid practical experience.
Valid driver license
Ability to drive an organization vehicle
Act 33/34/73 Clearances (Criminal/Child/FBI Department of Human Services)
Pre-Employment Drug Screen

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive evaluations to identify co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
Utilize evidence-based tools and diagnostic criteria to guide treatment recommendations.
Develop individualized treatment plans addressing both mental health and substance use needs.
Deliver therapeutic interventions, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and relapse prevention strategies.
Monitor client progress and adjust plans as needed.
Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and case managers.
Connect clients with community resources, support groups, and additional services.
Educate clients and their families about co-occurring disorders and treatment options.
Advocate for client needs within the healthcare and social service systems.
Maintain detailed records of assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, ethical standards, and confidentiality requirements.
