About The Position

Dual Behavioral Health Specialist for the CEP Program at Central City Concern. This is a hands-on, relationship-driven role focused on working with individuals experiencing serious mental illness and substance use disorders. The position involves providing integrated dual diagnosis treatment in the community, intensive case management with autonomy, crisis stabilization, and assisting clients with housing, benefits, medical care, and employment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field OR 3 years relevant work experience specializing in chemical dependency and mental health treatment.
  • QMHA-R certification, at minimum, required.
  • CADC-R certification, at minimum, required.
  • Must meet CCC privileging requirements as required by FTCA.
  • Must have current CPR certification prior to start date.
  • Competencies necessary to: Communicate effectively, Perform drug and alcohol assessments and develop service plans based on ASAM criteria, Understand treatment and service terminology and able to apply the concepts, Provide psychosocial skills development, psycho education, and assist with mental health assessment; and Implement interventions prescribed on a service plan.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, TB test, and background check. This includes clearance by the DHS Background Check Unit.
  • Ability to adhere to Central City Concern’s drug-free workplace policy.
  • Physical ability to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, reach, pull and lift heavy objects.
  • Must be able to climb stairs several times a day.
  • Will be required to carry an agency cell phone for work use.
  • If using a vehicle for agency use, must possess a current driver’s license, access to a vehicle, qualify as an Acceptable Driver.
  • Must pass an initial drivers training within 60 days of being an approved driver and continued recertification training.
  • Must maintain vehicle insurance coverage of a minimum of $100,000/$300,000 personal auto liability coverage.
  • Ability to adhere to agency’s non-discrimination policies.
  • Ability to effectively interact with co-workers and clients with diverse ethnic backgrounds, religious views, cultural backgrounds, lifestyles, sexual orientations, and treat each individual with respect and dignity.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct biopsychosocial assessments and ASAM-based service planning.
  • Build strengths-based treatment plans with clients.
  • Provide crisis stabilization and risk assessments in community settings.
  • Use Motivational Interviewing and IDDT to move clients through stages of change.
  • Facilitate groups, provide psychoeducation, and deliver evidence-based interventions.
  • Collect information regarding clients’ history through interviewing, records review, and consultation.
  • Participate in clinical staff meetings and case conferences.
  • Assess, triage and respond to psychiatric and substance abuse crisis in the community.
  • Monitor and assure that the health and safety needs of clients are met.
  • Quickly and accurately assess the needs of individual clients and potential barriers to service.
  • Maintain client records as required by State, Federal, local and program standards and funding requirements.
  • Attend all mandatory CCC trainings.
  • Adhere to all state and federal privacy regulations, including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2.
  • Participate in Outreach activities.
  • Escort clients to meetings and appointments as necessary.
  • Conduct education and support groups for clients.
  • Collaborate with Residential facilities, Adult Foster homes or other housing providers.
  • Participate in admission and discharge planning for any client needing hospitalization or subacute level of care.
  • Provide testimony and advocacy with courts and other agencies.
  • Coordinate services with all members of client’s support network.
  • Participate in training opportunities to advance skills and knowledge in addictions and mental health.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
