About The Position

Our programs focus on developing life, social, and vocational skills that empower the individuals we serve to reach their highest level of independence and personal success. We are committed to providing compassionate, person-centered support that recognizes each individual’s unique strengths, goals, and choices. The DTAC Instructor is responsible for implementing training curriculum and providing individualized support to adults with developmental disabilities in both center-based and community-based settings. This position assists consumers in achieving their Individual Program Plan (IPP) and Individual Service Plan (ISP) goals through instructional activities, skill development, supervision, and community integration while promoting independence, safety, and personal growth.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid California driver’s license with a good driving record
  • Ability to safely transport consumers in agency vehicles
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Ability to maintain accurate documentation and reports
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification or ability to obtain

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in a related field
  • One year of experience in a DTAC or related setting
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Supervisory and/or training experience
  • Class B driver’s license with passenger endorsement.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and facilitate classroom and community-based training activities according to established curriculum and schedules
  • Provide individual and group instruction to support consumer IPP and ISP goals
  • Monitor, document, and report consumer progress, behaviors, and performance
  • Maintain required case notes, reports, and consumer documentation accurately and timely
  • Supervise consumers to ensure safety, accountability, and well-being in all settings
  • Transport consumers to community-based activities and appointments as needed
  • Maintain positive working relationships with staff, families, guardians, and outside agencies
  • Follow all agency policies, procedures, ethical standards, and safety requirements
  • Attend required meetings, trainings, and in-service sessions
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
