About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the DSS associate director of operations, the Student Assistant will support the Department of Disability Support Services (DSS) by assisting with the administration of exam accommodations for DSS students. The Student Assistant will work one-on-one with students who have various disabilities, facilitating quizzes, tests, and final exams, answering questions, and providing technical support as needed. The Student Assistant will also assist DSS staff and faculty with receiving, organizing, and returning exams to the appropriate departments. In addition, the Student Assistant will provide professional and welcoming customer service to students, staff, and faculty who seek assistance from the DSS department. This position plays an important role in supporting the daily operations of DSS and ensuring students receive their approved accommodations and necessary support.

  • Ability to remain seated for extended periods, including two or more hours, while monitoring students taking exams.
  • Ability to navigate the campus and travel between campus locations as needed to support departmental operations.
  • Must be a currently enrolled CSUF student for the current regular semester, or otherwise meet CSUF eligibility requirements for student employment between semesters.
  • Must be in good academic standing and not on academic probation, continued probation, or academic dismissal.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and able to provide required employment eligibility documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing and prioritizing multiple tasks and responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively as part of a team.
  • A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for this position.
