About The Position

A Reconstruction Drywaller is responsible for helping those who have been affected by fire or flood damage either in residential or commercial environments. This is a full-time, permanent position with a company that focuses on building careers through training initiatives and advancement opportunities. The company is a member of the Canstar Group of Companies and has branches in Prince George, Smithers, Terrace, and Quesnel.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in drywall is preferred
• The physical ability to bend, reach, lift 50 pounds safely and repeatedly and stand throughout your shift.
• An eagerness to bulk your paycheck with overtime hours as we are a 24/7 emergency services company, and all positions will have a component of on-call work on a rotational basis.
• The ability to wear personal protective equipment to keep you safe on site, including a respirator. Facial hair that will allow you to wear a respirator safely is limited to a clean shave, a moustache and/or a small goatee.
• A driver’s license and personal vehicle to attend on call sites is a must (mileage is reimbursed).
• A clean criminal record as it relates to work and a drivers abstract with only minor infractions is required.

Responsibilities

• Efficiently measure, cut, and install drywall sheets in damaged areas.
• Perform drywall repairs, fill joints, patch holes, cracks, nail indentations etc.
• Apply joint compound, skillfully filling in seams, joints, and nail/screw indentations.
• Perform major repairs using fast set to prepare paint/texture
• Texture blend
• Remove imperfections through sanding, scraping, and feathering to ensure a flawless appearance.
• Tape, coat, skim, sand to prepare for paint
• Install T-bar grid/ ceiling tile
• Finishing arches
• Insulation/vapor barrier
• Hang board
• Tape, mud bring to paint stage
• Seal new drywall
• Texture ceilings –popcorn and knockdown
• Ensure that self and others adhere to Universal’s health and safety practices and procedures
• Ensure good housekeeping is kept to perform work safely and efficiently
• Understand safety policies and protocols
• Ensure that self and others on site are wearing all required PPE, when required
