About The Position

Tapes joints between plasterboard or other wallboards to prepare wall surface for painting or papering. This role involves using various tools and materials to ensure a smooth and properly finished wall surface. The job requires attention to detail, adherence to safety procedures, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Rolls out power cords and checks out tools and equipment needed for daily tasks.
  • Inventories materials, tools and equipment at the beginning and end of shift.
  • Cuts out and pre-fills damaged areas on finished walls with hot mud.
  • Mixes joint compound by hand with stomper or with an electric drill with beater bar.
  • Tapes over flats, butts and angles by hand or with mechanical applicator.
  • Spreads and smoothes compound material over taped flats, butts and angles surface.
  • Spots screws with joint compound.
  • Installs cornerbead to all corners then sands and flush coats.
  • Sands rough spots after compound has dried.
  • Applies flush coat of compound.
  • Sands rough spots after compound has dried.
  • Touches up any nicks, dings, scuffs or pin holes.
  • Applies primer to walls and ceiling preparatory to final finishing.
  • Applies texturing compound to walls and ceiling preparatory to final finishing.
  • Cleans up all mechanical tools on a daily basis to keep in proper working condition.
  • Cleans up all excessive spills of compound on floors.
  • Stocks materials as required.
